Annual Report of the Church Clerk for 1974
This is the 101st year of our church's existence. All in all it has been a very good year.
We held cottage prayer meetings during Lent at the homes of various members climaxing with a very impressive Maundy Thursday service at the church.
Improvements this year included addition to switches at rear of church to control all lights, railing on stairwell, redecorating interior of the sanctuary, and installation of book racks beneath pews to hold new bibles we are looking forward to dedicating in memory of Ralph Remington in near future.
Five shut-ins were remembered with plants at Easter time.
The Philathea class worshipped with us in May and the Fiskeville Firemen worshipped with us on Firemen's Memorial Sunday in June.
We held a very impressive outdoor baptismal service in July at Searle's camp when Cindy Lou Battey, Arthur and Kenneth Searle were baptized by the Pastor assisted by the deacons.
Two babies were dedicated during the year - Jennifer Lynn Cornell - daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Cornell and Christopher Jean Rossi, son of Mr. and Mr. Richard Rossi.
We received six into Church membership - Mrs. William MacAdam and Miss Hope MacAdam by letter and Cindy Lou Battey, George, Arthur and Kenneth Searle by baptism (George had been baptized earlier by John Brooks).
We lost one member by death - Chester Amsden.
We recessed for vacation during August and the first Sunday in September. Since reopening this fall several friends have joined us in worship. This has resulted in establishing a Sunday School. All of this made us very happy and makes us feel we can look forward to a prosperous year in 1975.
The hospitalization of our Pastor this fall saddened us but we rejoice that God saw fit to restore his health and he has been able to return to the pulpit and resume his pastoral duties.
We close 1974 thanking God for his guidance and direction and the many blessings he has bestowed on us during the year and we pray for continued guidance and direction to carry on in His name in 1975.
B. Helen Harvey, Church Clerk
