The Bible has many accounts of covenant relationships. God made covenant with Noah, sealed with a rainbow; with Abraham resulting in the birth of Isaac; and eventually with all of Israel demonstrated with the Ten Commandments given to Moses on Mount Sinai. God made with all of us through Jesus Christ. A covenant is more than a contract or business pact. It implies a meaningful relationship between the two parties.
As followers of Jesus Christ we are in a covenant relationship with God. When we joined Tabernacle Baptist Church we entered into a covenant relationship with the church body. At this church anniversary season I invite us to review our own commitment to that covenant. Being a covenanting member of this church body is more than just having our name on the church membership role. We embrace our church covenant together.
Eighteen years ago I entered into a covenant relationship with you as your pastor. At this time I renew my commitment to you and to God to be faithful to that call as we move into our nineteenth year of shared ministry at Tabernacle.
I invite you to review your covenant relationship with God and with this church body. How is God calling you to a greater level of commitment as we join together on this faith journey?
What new covenant is God inviting you into as we celebrate 140 years of ministry here at Tabernacle Baptist Church?
Joyously in Service,
